Many people feel a variety of feelings when they find out they have diabetes. It is normal to feel worried, anxious or scared. It’s important to remember that you are not alone. Here are a few tips to start you on the road to managing diabetes.
Diabetes group education classes
These group education classes are available for patients who:
- have newly diagnosed type 2 diabetes
- have type 2 diabetes and are starting on insulin
- are on insulin.
Talk to your general practice team for further information about the classes and to ask for a referral.

This class has been developed to help introduce regular and enjoyable exercise to people with diabetes.

This is a buffet dinner to celebrate Diabetes Christchurch’s Platinum Anniversary…yes we’ve been supporting people in Canterbury for 70 years!
Choices include 3 salads, 3 hot mains, 4 vegetable mains, 3 dessert items, an Anniversary Cake and of course, tea and coffee. There is a cash/Eft Pos bar available.
